Everywhere, all the time – part 2

Visiting the Wolters enterprise in Holland.

Hans and Gert-Jan Wolters are the third generation to run the painting company and have successfully built it up over the past 20 years.

We visit Wolters B.V., about one and a half hours east of Amsterdam, a large painting enterprise with more than 100 employees. At its headquarters in Deventer, projects throughout the entire country are prepared and coordinated. Extensive painting work is carried out in the large plant hall and the modern spray booth. But mainly the Wolters teams have to be ready at any time and have everything they need for their work, no matter where they are.

‘Efficient planning with a high degree of flexibility is essential for a company of our size,’ explains Gert-Jan Wolters. Sometimes he wishes he had another set of ears so he could be on the phone with three people at once: With customers and project owners, with suppliers and site managers, and with his foremen and teams on the construction sites. ‘Luckily we’ve installed the necessary structures and mobile tools over past years to be able to coordinate all of this,’ the managing director says.

In extensive renovation projects, windows and doors are carefully refurbished in spacious workshops.

‘The cordless tools from Festool make our work in the workshop and on the construction sites much, much easier. In a modern painting business, we can’t do without them.’

His brother, Hans Wolters, who is himself a trained painter, is responsible for the quality of the work. To him, being mobile and flexible primarily means procuring the right tools. ‘I grew up with the fantastic but very heavy Festo machines in our father’s company. What Festool has to offer today in terms of mobile cordless tools is truly amazing, both when they are used individually and as a system,’ he says enthusiastically. The tools have become irreplaceable on the construction site – but even in the workshop they prove to be more lightweight and more comfortable to work with. And since occupational health and safety rules are especially strict in Holland, only tools with dust extraction are used on the construction sites. It’s a very easy and naturally mobile choice to work with the cordless tools from Festool, which can be used with dust extraction.
